FDA Rejects ban a children cough medicine

The FDA set standards for cough and cold medicines some 30 years ago and records show that there were no separate studies were done for kids. That means for 30 years parents have been feeding their children medication that has never been tested for its safety or effeciveness in children.

Cough and cold medicines send nearly 7,000 children to the emergency room each year with symptoms ranging from hives and drowsiness to unsteady walking.

In a bizarre change of events Drug companies have come out and asked to ban cold medicines for children under 4 and the drug companies will have new voluntary labels on children medicine. Even after the drug companies have shown concern the FDA refuses to ban medicine for children.

I have always believed that the FDA was more concerned about the large food and drug companies than the individuals, but now I'm really confused. Now the government agency is ignoring warning by the drug makers themselves.

Please be careful what you put in your children's body and do your own research.
