Arbor Day

Arbor Day was originally created in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton to emphasize the importance of planting trees. It is now recognized in all 50 states. The actual date varies from state to state. In Colorado it is always the third Friday in April.

So if you can, get out there and plant a tree. It will not only make your yard and neighborhood more beautiful but also it will clean the air and possibly shade your house to reduce energy costs.

Many Cities have Arbor Day programs. Check with your local city government. They may have a tree planting opportunity in a city park or open space.
